<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter for liquid crystal display device which does not cause display defection such as discrimination and flicker, and deterioration in contrast due to light leakage near the frame without disposing an overcoat layer and, as the result, exhibits an excellent display characteristic, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the color filter for liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: In the color filter comprising: a transparent substrate; a light shielding layer which is made of a resin and is formed on the transparent substrate; and a plurality of colors of colored layers which are formed on regions partitioned by the light shielding layer, a cross-sectional shape of the light shielding layer is a forwardly tapered shape having a fringe part of continuous curve and an overlap width d of the light shielding layer and the colored layer satisfies the following relation; (1/3)hcotθ≤d≤2hcotθ, wherein, in the relation, h is a film thickness of the light shielding layer and θ is a tapered angle formed between: a straight line connecting a point where a contour curve of the fringe part is in contact with a transparent substrate surface and a point where the light shielding layer has the maximum film thickness on the curve; and the transparent substrate surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
