<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display which is composed of a polarizing protective film having polarized scattering light anisotropy and a brightness improving function, a flat plate, and a direct underneath back light, and highly efficient in lighting with less uneven brightness and excellent in polarizer durability. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing protective film used in the polarizer plate contains an optically continuous phase of a cellulose ester and a domain which is 2 or larger in the aspect ratio defined by an expression (1): aspect ratio=domain long axis diameter/short axis diameter. The acetyl group replacement X of this cellulose ester and the propionyl group replacement Y satisfy expression (2), 2.3≤X+Y≤2.8, and expression (3), 0.0<Y≤2.8. The alignment angle in the long axis direction of this domain is 25° or smaller to the absorption axis direction of the light absorption polarizer, and the back light is a direct type device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
