PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of improving convenience for users when turning off a light source, and to provide a control method of the projector. SOLUTION: When an Enter key is operated in a state where a selected image is projected, a control part controls an image projecting part to project an illumination image with messages mentioned on a solid white image. Concretely, the control part instructs an image signal processing part to form image data indicating the solid white image and output the solid white image to an OSD processing part, and also, the control part instructs the OSD processing part to superpose messages including a remaining time (15 seconds) until a power source turn-off processing is performed on the solid white image ("the power source will be turned off after 15 seconds"). After 15 seconds from the projection of the illumination image, the control part performs a power source turn-off processing including the turn-off of the light source. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
