PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precipitation hardening type stainless steel die having high corrosion resistance and high surface hardness, whose surface can be finished to a satisfactory specular state by mirror polishing, further, whose deformation caused by heat treatment can be suppressed to a low degree, and whose shape and dimensions can be made into high precisions. SOLUTION: A precipitation hardening type stainless steel having a composition comprising, by mass, 0.005 to 0.06% C, 0.10 to 2.50% Si, 0.50 to 1.50% Mn, 1.0 to 5.0% Cu, 4.0 to 8.0% Ni, 11.0 to 17.0% Cr, 0.1 to 5.0% Mo+0.5W, 0.1 to 1.0% V and 0.1 to 4.0% Co, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is subjected to aging treatment and nitriding treatment, so as to be a die having high surface hardness satisfying HV≥500, and high corrosion resistance.
