PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire improved in wet performance through highly compounding and highly dispersing silica therein and effecting advanced physical properties. SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire is such that the following rubber composition is used in the tread: The rubber composition is such as to be highly compounded with silica, containing 100-30 pts.wt. of a hydroxyl-containing diene rubber comprising 15-50 wt.% of an aromatic vinyl compound and 10-80 wt.% of the vinyl linkage of the conjugated diene and having a glass transition temperature of -50°C to -10°C. In this rubber composition, the quantity difference(F-S) between a filler and a flexibilizer is 60-90 pts.wt., and the durometer hardness of this rubber composition as determined at 20°C is 65-76.
