PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polycarbonate having a vegetable-originated component and having high heat resistance and mechanical properties with a two tank type reactor. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polycarbonate containing ether diol residues represented by formula (1) by a melt-polycondensation method using a carbonic diester with two tank type reactor comprising the first reaction tank having a distillation tower, a stirring device and a water-cooling condenser, and the second reaction tank having a distillation pipe not having a refluxing function, a stirring device, and a polymer extruding port, is characterized by transferring the reaction solution to the second reaction layer, after the distillation amount of a hydroxyl compound produced in the reaction process in the first reaction tank reaches to the range of 60 to 93% of a theoretical distillation amount.
