PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a winding method of a sewing raw thread wherein a tension variation in unreeling is small, an unreeling thread break is reduced, and a collapse caused by an impact in handling such as packing, unpacking, transportation, and spinning preparation can be recovered only by stripping a predetermined amount of yarn, and a product loss can be controlled to the minimum. SOLUTION: When the sewing raw thread is wound to a pirn package having a tapered upper part, a straight part and a tapered lower part, a traverse width is constant from the winding start to the winding end in a traverse width satisfying a following expression (1), and a traverse return part is moved in a constant amount.
