PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine which correction value of a medium stored in a memory is to be used when conveying a medium of which the size is different from that of the other medium of which the correction value is stored in the memory. SOLUTION: This determining method comprises a step for obtaining a plurality of correction values correlated to relative positions between a medium in a prescribed size and a head for performing recording on the medium, the correction values being for correcting a targeting conveyance amount when conveying the medium in the prescribed size, and a step for determining the correction value to be used when correcting a targeting conveyance amount in conveying of a medium in a size different from the prescribed size by choosing it from a plurality of the correction values of the medium in the prescribed size according to a variation amount of a plurality of the correction values of the medium in the prescribed size.
