PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine capable of stably providing high rinsing power by preventing occurrence of foam restraint. SOLUTION: A drum 3 for storing the laundry is rotatably disposed inside a water tub 2. The drum 3 is provided with pores 27 for communicating between a space between the water tub 2 and the drum 3 and a space inside the drum 3. The drum 3 is rotationall driven by a driving motor 4. Water supply from an outer casing 1 to the water tub 2 is controlled by a bath water pump 37 and a water supply valve 38. Water stored in the water tub 2 is fed into the drum 3 by a circulation pump 23. A control device 5 controls the bath water pump 37 and the water supply valve 38 so that the drum 3 is not immersed in water stored in the water tub 2, and feeds water into the water tub 2, and drives/controls the circulation pump 23.
