PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire for removing a foreign substance from inside a blood vessel and a medical device which credibly capture and remove a foreign substance within the blood vessel. SOLUTION: The wire 1A for removing a foreign substance from inside a blood vessel comprises a flexible wire 2 and a foreign substance capturing section 3A arranged on a distal side of the wire 2 for capturing a foreign substance within a blood vessel. The foreign substance capturing section 3A is made of a flat wire 31A. The flat wire 31A is arranged diagonally with respect to a long axis of the foreign substance capturing section 3A. The flat wire has a plurality of windings in a spiral or loop shape, and is configured so that the diametersϕof the loops of the plurality of windings reduces gradually in the distal direction.
