<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device capable of achieving sure fixing of an optical component by canceling the dimensional tolerance of the optical component only by a cover body of an optical system without through a separate component in order to fix the optical component, and to provide a projection type video display device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical device, the optical system 12 leading to a projection lens 3 from a light source which emits light at high temperature is housed in an optical system housing part 46 with an open upper surface, and the open upper surface of the optical system housing part 46 is covered with the cover body 47, and a sheet metal (upper cover 471 made of sheet metal) having heat resistance and elasticity is used for a high-temperature part near the light source, and resin (upper cover 472 made of resin) having elasticity is used for a low-temperature part as the cover body 47. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
