PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closed-loop optical gyro which reduces a dead zone error, since a phase detection sensitivity for an optical gyro is low in a very low rotational speed to generate sometimes the dead zone error. SOLUTION: A system for driving light passing through a sensing coil of the optical gyro is constituted to include: a photodetection circuit 32 having an input terminal for receiving a light output from the sensing coil and having an output terminal; and a signal processing circuit 50 having an input terminal coupled to the photodetection circuit 32 and having an output terminal for supplying an output signal to modulate the sensing coil. The photodetection circuit 32 generates a digital signal based on the optical output. The signal processing circuit 50 generates a feedback signal from the digital signal, and adds a random number to the feedback signal to generate the output signal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
