PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a control avoiding abnormal combustion of an internal combustion engine within a necessary and sufficient range. SOLUTION: An operation control device 30 for an internal combustion engine includes a fuel property estimating part 32 and an operation limiting part 33. The fuel property estimating part 32 estimates a rate of content of butane in LPG fuel supplied to the internal combustion engine. The operation limiting part 33 sets an operational area where there is a risk of the occurrence of abnormal combustion in the internal combustion engine, based on the rate of content of butane estimated by the fuel property estimating part 32. Then the operation limiting part limits an amount of fuel supplied to the internal combustion engine and throttle opening, so as not to operate the internal combustion engine in the operational area where there is a risk of the occurrence of abnormal combustion in the internal combustion engine.
