PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester polymer having excellent hue which has been produced without using a germanium compound or an antimony compound as a catalyst. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a polyester, a polymerization catalyst used therein does not substantially contain a germanium compound or an antimony compound, and a reaction product of a titanium compound expressed by the general formula (I) (wherein R<SB>1</SB>is an alkyl group having 2-10 carbon atoms) and a phosphorous compound expressed by general formula (II) (wherein R<SB>2</SB>is an alkyl group having 2-18 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6-12 carbon atoms) is used as the catalyst, and an octadecyl-3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate is added as an antioxidant.
