PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact projection display device having less power consumption.

SOLUTION: The projection display device is provided with: a substrate; a plurality of light emitting elements arrayed two-dimensionally on the surface of the substrate; an image formation part for forming images based on input image signals by having a drive part for selectively driving the light emitting element arrayed in a first direction out of the plurality of the light emitting elements and a drive part for selectively driving the light emitting element arrayed in a second direction substantially orthogonal to the first direction; and a projection lens for projecting the images formed by the image formation part.
