PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication apparatus and method capable of setting a wireless frequency range while avoiding a cost increase due to addition of functions or equipment. SOLUTION: The apparatus 200 includes a storage unit for storing destination information related to a country or an area where the apparatus 200 is installed and defining data for defining a frequency band assignable to each country and each area; a control unit 202 for reading the destination information and the defining data from the storage unit, and determining an assignable frequency band from the defining data on the basis of the destination information; and a WUSB unit 208 for performing wireless communication with a host apparatus using the frequency band determined by the control unit 202.
