When video transmission devices are connected by point-to-point, it is impossible to obtain sufficient user-friendliness or extensibility. In order to solve this problem, a video transmission system having a plurality of video transmission devices for transmitting video information includes a routing device. The video transmission device includes: a packetizing unit for packetizing video information; a transmission unit for transmitting the packetized vide information toward a routing device; and a reception unit for receiving the packetized video information transferred via the routing device from another video transmission device. The routing device provides a video transmission system including a route information holding unit for holding route information and a transfer unit for transferring the packetized video information transmitted from the video transmission device toward another video transmission device according to the route information.
