<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of satisfactorily protecting a heat generating body, in comparison with conventional types, and to provide a protecting method. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a heating means, having the heat generating body that generates heat by receiving power supplied from a power source. The image forming apparatus also includes a first protection means which, when the temperature of the heating body exceeds the temperature threshold, protects the heat generating body by limiting supply of power to the heat generating body, after the lapse of time required for an operation. In particular, the image forming apparatus includes a second protection means, which when the first protection means cannot protect it in time since the rising speed of the temperature of the heat generating body is higher than a specified time, the supply of power to the heat-generating body is limited for a fixed length of time or longer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
