摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, suitably suppressing deterioration in engine output since an ignition timing control is destabilized caused by occurrence of hammering sound of piston and ignition timing is excessively retarded, in an internal combustion engine changing opening/closing property of an intake valve. SOLUTION: A control part 40 controls a maximum lift amount and an operation angle of an intake valve based on an engine operational status by means of a changing mechanism 20. The control part 40 retards the ignition timing when a knocking sensor 52 detects knocking, and on the other hand, the control part 40 advances the ignition timing when the knocking is not detected. Further, the control part 40 determines that the internal combustion engine is in an operational area where the hammering sound of piston occurs when the ignition timing is retarded from a predetermined determination ignition timing. When it is determined that the internal combustion engine is in the operational area where the hammering sound of piston occurs, the control part 40 increases the maximum lift amount and the operational angle of the intake valve up to a predetermined lift amount and a predetermined operational angle through the changing mechanism 20.
