PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation of a freshness holding function of food stored in a refrigerator. SOLUTION: The refrigerator circulates cold air produced in a cooler 49, to diverge to a refrigerating temperature chamber 46 and a freezing temperature chamber 43 by a blower 51 and to return to the cooler 49, and changes the rotating speed of a compressor 47 by a control device 57 based on the amount of internal thermal load of the refrigerating temperature chamber 46 or the freezing temperature chamber 43. The control device 57 determines whether a weighting integrated time for estimating the frosted amount of the cooler 49 is longer than the predetermined time when the start conditions of defrosting operation are established, and stops precooling operation before defrosting of the cooler 49 or performs precooling operation with the reduced precooling amount when the determined result is longer than the predetermined time.
