PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for uniformly extending massive food dough without causing slipperiness between the food dough and extending rollers and shrinking the food dough when the food dough is extended into a flat shape. SOLUTION: In the method for extending the massive food dough 25 placed on a placing stand 27 into a flat shape, a supporting frame 11 vertically movable relative to the placing stand 27 is equipped with conically shaped extending rollers 15 movable around and rotatable relative to the placing stand 27, when the extending rollers 15 are pressed relative to the food dough 25 to extend the food dough 25, the extending rollers 15 are driven and rotated so as to extend the food dough 25 at a higher speed in which the extending rollers 15 are moved around and subordinately rotated, rotary members 21 attached to the extending rollers 15 are rollably connected relative to ring members 23 and the supporting frame 11 is rotated so as to rotate the extending rollers 15.
