PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a rigid polyurethane foam with a k-factor lower than that of a presently available foam; to provide a method for producing the rigid polyurethane foam useful for the production of a cooling device or other applications in which heat insulation is important; and to provide the rigid polyurethane foam having good heat insulation properties and a density of from about 0.032 to about 0.064 g/cm<SP>3</SP>. SOLUTION: The rigid closed-cell polyurethane foam is produced by reacting (a) an isocyanate reactive component containing (1) an amine-based polyether polyol and (2) a polyester polyol with (b) a diisocyanate or a polyisocyanate in the presence of (c) a hydrofluorocarbon blowing agent, (d) a catalyst and (e) <0.3 wt.% water based on the whole foam-forming mixture, and has the density of from about 0.032 to about 0.064 g/cm<SP>3</SP>.
