PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anodizing method which can form an anodic oxide film having different film thicknesses on an internal circumferential surface of a cylindrical section and an external surface of an aluminum product by one anodizing step for the aluminum product provided with the cylindrical section. SOLUTION: This anodizing method is directed at anodizing a master cylinder member 10 having a cylinder section 12 by immersing it in an electrolytic solution and forming an anodic oxide film on the surface of the master cylinder member 10, and comprises the steps of: inserting a cylindrical insulation member 20 into the cylinder section 12 so as to limit the quantity of the electrolytic solution which contacts with an internal circumferential surface of the cylinder section 12 compared to an external surface of the master cylinder member 10; thereby forming a predetermined gap between the internal circumferential surface of the cylinder section 12 and the external circumferential surface of the insulation member 20 along the internal circumferential surface; and subsequently anodizing the surface of the master cylinder member 10 including the internal circumferential surface of the cylinder section 12.
