PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine capable of switching an operation method of a multistage type operation pedal according to the preference of a user. SOLUTION: A piping sewing machine 10 switches a mode between a multistage type operation mode for operating respective operation devices of the sewing machine according to a treading amount when an operation pedal 92 is trodden, and a number-of-time type operation mode for operating the operation devices of the sewing machine according to the number of times of treading the operation pedal 92, by selecting either of a multistage type operation selection key 91c or a number-or-time operation selection key 91d on a pedal operation mode switching screen to be displayed on a display panel of a display input means 91, so that this sewing machine 10 can be used by operating the operation pedal 92 according to the respective operation modes.
