Weatherseals are provided by a pair of base members ( 21 c, 21 d) which may be attached to a pile ( 22 ) formed by winding fibers (yam) around a band ( 51 ) as the band travels along an endless path. A section of the pile ( 22 ) on one side of the endless band ( 51 ) is cut to provide cut pile section ( 23 ) and a continuous pile section ( 22 a). The continuous pile section ( 22 a) forms the bow, arch or loop ( 22 e) by disposing the base members ( 21 c, 21 d) in side-by-side, back-to-back, or perpendicular relationship. The cut pile section ( 23 ) may be removed at the base members ( 21 c, 21 d) or halves of the cut pile section ( 22 b, 22 c) maybe left in place. The remaining cut pile section halves ( 22 b, 22 c) form one or more brushes along the outside or inside of the bow, arch, or loop ( 22 e) formed by the continuous pile section ( 22 a). The outside surface ( 22 d) of the bow, arch, or loop ( 22 e) may be provided by a sheet or fin ( 80 ) of thin material which controls the imperviousness to moisture or air infiltration and the frictional characteristics of the outside surface. The fin material ( 110 a, 110 b) may also be disposed on the outside of the brushes formed by the cut pile section halves ( 22 b, 22 c). The fin material ( 80 ) may be applied on the endless band ( 51 ), or fin material ( 110 ) may be applied over the pile ( 22 ) wound thereon, and attached together with the pile ( 22 ) to the base members ( 21 c, 21 d). The cut pile section halves ( 22 b, 22 c) and the outside surface ( 22 d) of the bow, arch, or loop ( 22 e) may be attached by base members ( 21 c, 21 d) to a member, such as by adhesive or via one or more T-shaped slots, that is in sealing relationship with another member and engagable therewith to provide a resilient seal.
