The device (1) has supply lines (2, 7, 9) attached at a storage tank (5). A direction valve enables a gas flow of a blower into the storage tank. A control device stays in effective connection with dosing valves (3, 8), blower (10) and a pressure detection unit (17). The control device is designed to set an operating pressure level in the storage tank in an operation type during gas dosing over the dosing valves and to lower the pressure level to another operating pressure level in another operation type during gas dosing over one of the supply lines. An independent claim is also included for a method for mixing gases for a respirator.
