<p>To reduce the power consumption and heat generation in an A/S separating circuit used for preventing a current caused by an auxiliary voltage from flowing into a sustain discharge voltage source or into the A/S separating circuit itself in the Y-electrode driving circuit or X-electrode driving circuit of a plasma display apparatus. Bidirectional switches are used to configure a sustain voltage generating circuit of the Y-electrode or X-electrode driving circuit, so that the A/S separating circuit can be removed.</p>
