A traditional oriental medicine with atopic dermatitis improving capability is provided to show no toxicity on keratinocyte and strong antioxidative capability, do not have any succession of microorganism even for a long time storage so that the addition of an antiseptic for a cosmetic which is able to induce skin irritation when used for a long period of time is not needed and be effective for treating atopic dermatitis. A method for preparing a traditional oriental medicine with atopic dermatitis improving capability comprises the steps of: (a) mixing 4-6 parts by weight of Rehmannia glutinosa root, 4-6 parts by weight of Schizonepeta tenuifolia, 1-3 parts by weight of Panax notoginseng, 1-3 parts by weight of Polygonum fagopyrum seed, 1-3 parts by weight of Glycine soja seed, 4-6 parts by weight of Acanthopanax senticosus root, 5-7 parts by weight of Ulmus davidiana root, 3-5 parts by weight of Smilax glabra root, 4-6 parts by weight of Ginkgo biloba leaf, 4-6 parts by weight of Prunus armeniaca kernel, 4-6 parts by weight of Camellia sinensis leaf, 3-5 parts by weight of Sanguisorba officinalis root, 3-5 parts by weight of Phellodendron amurense bark, 4-6 parts by weight of Prunus mune fruit, 4-6 parts by weight of Zanthoxylum piperitum peel, 5-7 parts by weight of Pinus densiflora bark, 3-5 parts by weight of Portulaca oleracea, 3-5 parts by weight of Magnolia obovata bark, 5-7 parts by weight of Polygonum cuspidatum root, 1-3 parts by weight of Sophora angustifola root, 5-7 parts by weight of Ganoderma lucidum stem, 1-3 parts by weight of Carthamus tinctorius flower, 3-5 parts by weight of Bletilla striata root and 1-3 parts by weight of Rice(Oryza sativa) bran and extracting the mixture with hot water; and (b) cooling vapor generated by heating the hot water extract to obtain a distilled solution. The method further comprises a step of mixing 70-90 parts by weight of the traditional oriental composition prepared by the step(b) with 10-30 parts by weight of the hot water extract obtained from the step(a).
