FILTER DEVICE FOR ISOLATING NUCLEIC ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for isolating and detecting a nucleic acid.

SOLUTION: The method for isolating a nucleic acid from a sample comprises the step (a) bringing a filter device comprising a plurality of porous membranes into contact with the sample so that the sample comes into contact successively at first with a first porous membrane followed by at least second porous membrane, the step (b) of lysing the sample on the first porous membrane having nominal pore size smaller than that of the second porous membrane and the step (c) of isolating the nucleic acid on at least one of the plurality of porous membranes by applying external force onto the filter device. The filter device for the above method is also provided. In this filter device, a third porous membrane has a capturing probe.
