PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new inhibitor of AGE (advanced glycation end products) formation having excellent inhibitory actions on the AGE production, and useful as a prophylactic and/or a therapeutic agents for glomerular diseases, especially a prophylactic and/or a therapeutic medicines for diabetic nephropathy. SOLUTION: The inhibitor of the AGE formation comprises a compound represented by general formula (1) or a solvate thereof as an active ingredient.
