<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous resin composition comprising polyurethane having an alkoxysilyl group, and aqueous coating composition comprising the same. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous resin composition comprises an aqueous medium and water-dispersed therein, a polyurethane resin (I) obtained from raw materials: a reaction product (a) bearing at least two active hydrogen groups in one molecule obtained by a reaction of a cyclic carbonate compound (i) with an aminosilane (ii); a polyol component (b); and a polyisocyanate component (c). The aqueous resin composition comprises a water dispersion of a composite resin (III) of the polyurethane resin (I) with a polymer (II) of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer (e).
