<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain leakage of secret information through a document (manuscript) without complicating operation. <P>SOLUTION: A manuscript 300 and an ID card 400 are set on first platen glass 52A of a reading unit 50, and the images of the above manuscript 300 and the ID card 400 are read by scanning once. Subsequently, there are extracted a document ID from the read result of the manuscript 300 and a card ID from the read result of the ID card 400, respectively. An inquiry is made by making the obtained document ID and the card ID correspond to each other, and it is decided whether or not the output is permitted in the document image data obtained by reading the manuscript 300. When the output of the document image data corresponding to the above document ID is permitted to the card ID, the document image data are erased after being output to a printer.
