<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor abnormality detecting device and method capable of detecting the motor abnormality accurately. <P>SOLUTION: A detecting part 30 of ΔTc/Tj detects the difference between a temperature of FET 18 turning on/off of power supply to a DC motor 11 and an ambient temperature. Diagnosis controlling part 31 detects abnormality such as motor-lock and short of the DC motor 11 based on the difference ΔTc. A diagnosis controlling part 31 reduces a frequency and a duty number of PWM signals with controlling a PWM computing controlling part 23 and PWMOSC 22 when motor-lock is detected.
