<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly efficient power converter capable of avoiding generation of a stationary power loss generated in discharge resistance, and a residual charge consuming method in the power converter. <P>SOLUTION: A gate driving section 10 applies an intermediate voltage to a gate of a transistor Q11, and an H-level voltage on a gate of a transistor Q12. Accordingly, a predetermined intermediate resistance value Rd appears on the transistor Q11, and an ON resistance having a sufficient smaller value than the intermediate resistance value Rd appears on the transistor Q12. The gate driving section 10 applies an L-level voltage on gates of transistors Q21, Q22, Q31 and Q32, respectively. Accordingly, a current circulating path is formed between a smoothing capacitor C2 and a phase voltage generating section 1, and a discharge current Idis is applied to the current circulating path. Since this discharge current Idis changes into thermal resistance in the intermediate resistance value Rd mainly appearing on the transistor Q11, the residual charge can be consumed by the transistor Q11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
