PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement weight reduction, reduced friction, and reduced abrasion, by providing combination of a cylinder liner and a piston ring. SOLUTION: The cylinder liner 1 has a composition containing, by mass, 23.0 to 28.0 mass% Si, 0.80 to 2.0 mass% Mg, 3.0 to 4.5 mass% Cu, 0.25 mass% or less of Fe, 0.01 mass% or less of Ni, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. In the surface roughness of the inner peripheral face, Rz=0.5 to 1.0μm, Rk=0.2 to 0.4μm, Rpk=0.05 to 0.1μm, Rvk=0.08 to 0.2μm are satisfied. On the other hand, the piston ring has a composition containing, 0.6 to 0.7 mas% Co, 12 to 14 mass% Cr, 0.2 to 0.4 mass% Mo, 1.0 mass% or less of Si, 1.0 mass% or less of Mn, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. Carbide of 5.0μm or less in diameter is contained therein at a rate of 4 to 10% in area ratio. In the surface roughness of the outer peripheral sliding face, Rz=0.8μm or less, and Rpk=0.15μm or less are satisfied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
