PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a thickness in the depth direction and simultaneously miniaturize a zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens is composed of a first positive lens group GR1, a second negative lens group GR2, a third positive lens group GR3, a fourth positive lens group GR4 and a fifth negative lens group GR5, in order from an object and varies magnification in such a manner that the first lens group GR1, the third lens group GR3 and the fifth lens group GR5 are fixed and the second lens group GR2 and the fourth lens group GR4 are moved. In the zoom lens, the first lens group GR1 includes a prism G2 for bending an optical axis and in the fifth lens group GR5, a negative lens group and a positive lens group are disposed at an air spacing in order from an object side.
