PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method in which an abrasive used is inorganic powder abrasive particles having such a small particle diameter as a number average particle diameter of 0.03-0.30μm, and in which even when a cleaning blade 10a is disposed above an image carrier 1, image deletion and the influence of contamination of a charging member on an output image are suppressed and excellent durability performance free of image degradation can be retained over a long period of time. SOLUTION: The image forming method includes an auxiliary cleaning step using a magnetic brush 10f of magnetic particles borne on a magnet roller 10e before a cleaning step and after a transfer step, wherein the formulae: 7≤B×M/100≤23 and 60≤B×M×D≤320 are satisfied, wherein B is a maximum magnetic flux density (mT) of the magnet roller in a photoreceptor surface position; M is a saturation magnetization (Am<SP>2</SP>/kg) of the magnetic particles; and D is an average diameter (μm) of the inorganic powder abrasive particles being 0.03-0.30μm.
