In a floor &c. constituted by alternately disposed reinforced concrete ribs and rows of reinforced blocks the block reinforcement comprises a closed transverse frame embedded near the upper and lower surfaces with loops protruding into the ribs and overlapping those of the blocks of adjacent rows, and the rib reinforcement comprises longitudinal rods intersecting the loops. Hollow floor blocks 1 having an internal arch 4 and intermediate transverse walls 5 are grooved along one longitudinal edge of their upper wall, the grooves being filled with mortar when the floor is laid. A frame reinforcement 7 embedded in the block extends beyond the end walls as loops with a sloping upper portion forming recesses in which longitudinal reinforcements 8 are disposed for in situ concrete ribs 10 between the block rows. Lower reinforcements 9 pass through the loops. The block reinforcement may be laid in upper and lower grooves at the time of erection of the floor and may have transverse lugs or bars fitting into slots determining their exact position.
