A polymer characterized by having a structural unit represented by the fo llowing general formula (1a): (1a) wherein a1 is an integer of 1 or larger; Ar1 represents a divalent aromatic group which has an ion-exchange group and may have a substituent which is not an ion-exchange group; Ar0 represents a n optionally substituted, divalent aromatic group, provided that when a1 is 2 or larger, then the Ar0's may be the same or different; and X represents a divalent electron-attracting group.
