<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polypeptide related to the differentiation and maturing of osteoclasts, and a therapeutic method of bone disease by using the method. <P>SOLUTION: The nucleic acid, vector, host cell and binding assay system encoding the polypeptide for preparing the osteoprotegerin binding protein, the fragment, the analogue or the derivative thereof are provided. The composition and method for the treatment of osteal diseases such as osteoporosis, bone loss due to arthritis or metastasis, hypercalcemia and the Paget's disease are also provided.
