DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING DEVICE, ILLUMINATION DEVICE, AND INFORMATION TRANSMITTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device with the lighting device and other control devices made in a simple structure, as well as an illumination device and an information transmitting device.

SOLUTION: While a discharge lamp 12 of a thermionic cathode type is lit, an auxiliary light source 16 with a better optical output response than the discharge lamp 12 is lit with a filament-heated power from a high-frequency power source device 1 for heating filaments of the discharge lamp, and an optical output signal from the auxiliary light source 16 is utilized as a transmission signal. Since an optical output response of the auxiliary light source better than that of the discharge lamp is selected, transmission accuracy of the optical signal is improved. One for the main illumination is the same as a conventional one.
