PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the lowering of high-speed performance and accuracy in hybrid AF by decreasing useless detecting operation. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has: a first detection means 234 generating first information corresponding to the contrast state of a photographic video; a second detection means 230 detecting second information for obtaining a focused state, which is information different from the first information; and a control means 233 performing focus control using the first information and the second information.
