摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which is high in the external extraction quantum efficiency and which has a long life, to provide a manufacturing method of the organic EL element, to provide an illumination device, and to provide a display device. SOLUTION: In an organic electroluminescent element which is fabricated by passing through a process in which a laminated face A of a first electrode substrate having at least an organic compound layer of at least n layers (n≥0) and a laminated face B of a second electrode substrate having the organic compound layer of at least m layers (m≥0) are made to be opposed to each other to be pasted together, and which contains the organic compound layer of m+n layers ((m+n)≥1), the organic electroluminescent element has a metal thin film constituting the first electrode substrate or the second electrode substrate, and a thin film containing a surface reforming agent on the interface of the organic compound layer formed at least at one of the metal thin films.
