PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve dimension accuracy of a barrier rib located on the cut-out portion of an exposure stage when the barrier rib of a backboard for PDP is formed by a photolithography method. SOLUTION: This is a manufacturing method of a backboard for plasma display panel which has an address electrode of nearly stripe shape, a dielectric layer to cover the address electrode, and a barrier rib existing on the dielectric and having nearly stripe or lattice-shape on a substrate, and comprises a process in which a sensitive glass paste consisting of an organic component including a sensitive organic component and an inorganic component including low-softening temperature glass powder is painted, and dried, and then exposed through a photomask of nearly stripe shape or lattice shape on an exposure stage having a cut-out portion at the end part, and then developed and calcined to form a barrier rib. The mask slit width of the photomask at a position corresponding to the cut-out portion of the exposure stage is 0.7-0.9 times of the mask slit width of the center portion of the display region.
