PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor device reducing power consumption. SOLUTION: The semiconductor device 1A is provided with a sort circuit 56 for sorting data of a plurality of first data groups to generate a plurality of second data groups, a write data control circuit 61 for reversing the second data group based on the result of comparing data counts of first and second logical values of the second data group, a write circuit 71 for writing a plurality of reversed or nonreversed second data groups received from the write data control circuit 61 into a memory cell, a read circuit 72 for reading the plurality of second data groups from the memory cell, a read data control circuit 62 for reversing the second data groups if the read second data groups have been reversed, and a sort circuit 96 for sorting data of the plurality of second data groups received from the read data control circuit 62 to restore the plurality of first data groups.
