PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alkali storage battery of high volume by improving the hydrogen storage capacity of a hydrogen storage alloy for an alkali storage battery used for the negative pole of an alkali storage battery. SOLUTION: The hydrogen storage alloy has a Ce<SB>2</SB>Ni<SB>7</SB>type structure [space group P6<SB>3</SB>/mmc(194)] or a structure similar thereto, and is used for the negative pole of an alkali storage battery. In the hydrogen storage alloy, the ratio of the c axial length Lc to the (a) axial length La, and Lc/La satisfies the condition of Lc/La<4.89. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
