PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a blast furnace, which can prevent air permeability inside the furnace from being aggravated when operating the blast furnace while using a mixture of a main raw material for the blast furnace and ferrocoke. SOLUTION: The method for operating the blast furnace while mixing the ferrocoke produced by molding and carbonizing a material mainly containing coal and iron ore with an iron raw material and charging them from the furnace top includes controlling a position in a radial direction for charging the ferrocoke into the furnace to 0.12 to 1.0 by non-dimension radius.
