721,944. Xeroradiography. BATTELLE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. June 11, 1951, No. 13800/51. Drawings to Specification. Class 98 (2). The invention is concerned with the application of xerographic techniques to radiography. Thus an electrostatically-charged X-ray sensitive amorphous orα-monoclinic selenium surface layer on a plate is exposed in the dark to penetrating radiation, e.g. X-rays, #-rays, while an object to be radiographed is positioned between the radiation source and said layer, thereby producing a charge pattern image on said layer, and developing such image to make it visible by applying a finely-divided material to the image. The selenium layer may charged by corona discharge and the developer may be a powdered artificial resin mixed if desired with a granular carrier material, while exposure may be effected by using penetrating and non- penetrating, e.g. light, radiations simultaneeously. The powder image may be fused on to the plate or transferred to a separate support, e.g. paper, either by electrostatic action or by contacting the powder image with a solventmoistened receiving paper sheet. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 658,699 and 679,715.
