PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for an elevator doorway capable reducing impact applied to a photoelectric sensor, and capable of surely detecting a passenger. SOLUTION: The safety device for the elevator doorway is provided with a supporting means 11 oscillatably supporting the photoelectric sensor 5 by a fixing member 4a forming an outer shell of a door opening and closing device 4 on an upper part of a doorway of a car 1, a driving device 7 which is a driving source of oscillation of the photoelectric sensor 5, and a control means for controlling an electric motor of the driving device 7 so that a detection range 6 of the photoelectric sensor 5 always includes a region from a door end 9 to a door close end 10.
