PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for assembling a workpiece without damaging the workpiece or the assembling device even when the workpiece is held in an improper posture. SOLUTION: A first workpiece 11 is vacuum adsorbed to a tip of a first workpiece holding part 13, and a second workpiece 12 is vacuum adsorbed to a second workpiece holding part 14. The first workpiece holding part 13 is relatively moved in a direction that the first workpiece 11 and the second workpiece 12 approach to each other and the adsorption condition of the first workpiece 11 is canceled, so that the first workpiece 11 and the second workpiece 12 are assembled with each other. If the first workpiece 11 or the second workpiece 12 is held in an improper posture, the first workpiece 11 is not meshed with the second workpiece 12, and the adsorption condition of the first workpiece 11 is automatically canceled together with the downward movement of the first workpiece holding part 13, and detached from the first workpiece holding part 13, so as to avoid damage of the workpiece and further damage of the assembling device itself.
